Boutique School photography
Welcome! After many years of family, newborn, and studio photography, I am delighted to introduce my new Boutique School Photography division. As a mom of four quickly growing children, I know how important yearly portraits are to families and how they have become an expected part of the school year. This year, I have decided to offer my simple, minimalist studio children’s portraits to local schools. Gone are the days of vibrant backdrops and pre-paying for photographs that parents may not like. Together, we can provide families with quality portraits of their beloved children.

What is boutique school photography?
Boutique school photography allows schools to offer a custom studio photographic experience to their families while fundraising for the school. I provide a personal and professional service and a product that delivers genuine, artistic images of children. There is no up-front cost from the school or parents. Parents have the opportunity to view their child(ren)’s portraits before ordering, and the school will receive 10% of net profits. *Print Packages start at $25, Digital packages start at $35.
I have over 12 years experience photographing children, and although school photography is new for me, I intend to bring the same level of portraiture that my clients have come to expect. My goal is to provide an experience for the kids that is fun, easy-going, and captures them with natural expressions that can range from pensive to sweet to silly. I do not force smiles or awkward poses, and use simple backdrops. The resulting images are timeless, relaxed, and as unique as the child.
What is provided?
I provide all equipment and personnel needed for photo day. If a couple parents would like to volunteer to assist, that is great, too!
It's important to me that the proofing and ordering process is easy for the families and school. Each family will have access to a private online gallery containing 2-5 images in both color and black and white. The family then selects the images they'd like to order, with options for both print and digital format. I also provide boutique product choices such as deep matte prints and canvas gallery wraps. All viewing and ordering is done online for a stress-free and convenient experience, and products ship directly to the families.
A detailed web page or flyer for parents describing photo day preparation and ordering procedures is provided to each school to be distributed prior to photo day.
I handle all questions and communication from parents regarding the ordering process.
I can also take class and staff photos if desired.
I can work with your school to create a custom experience that meets your needs!
Logistics
My goal is to make the school portrait experience fun for the children as well as the school staff. Being prepared is the most helpful aspect of making the day run smoothly. In order to do so, here are the steps we’ll take:
Planning Meeting (2 weeks prior): We will start by a walk-through to identify the location of the shoot and go over any unanswered details/questions. I use natural light, so a room with large windows, atrium, or outdoor breezeway are ideal. I will come to the school, take a look around, and together we will select a location that would work well.
Student Information: In order to make picture day as efficient as possible, I will ask for a roster for each class or will provide a form for staff/parents to fill out beforehand so that I can create a gallery for each child and/or sibling group. This process can be customized to what works best for each school.
Day Of: Depending on school size, students will be photographed over 1-2 mornings. Children are photographed by class, using approximately 3 min per child to capture 3-5 portraits. I have a variety of seating options for younger children and infants available. *Optional sibling sessions can be added, and would take place at the end of the morning
After the Shoot: Within 2-3 weeks parents will receive notification that their gallery is ready to view. They will have a two week window to access their gallery and order products. Products ship directly to parents.
The school receives 10% of net profits after the ordering window closes.
